OpenText Positioned in the Leaders Quadrant for Enterprise Architecture Tools

OpenText’s Business Process Solutions (BPS) group today announced that OpenText Metastorm has been positioned in the Leaders quadrant of the 2011 Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Architecture Tools research report published by leading industry analyst firm, Gartner, Inc. The Gartner 2011 Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Architecture Tools report positions vendors in a particular market segment based on their completeness of vision and ability to execute.

OpenText Metastorm is positioned in this report based on OpenText Metastorm ProVision, a comprehensive software suite for enterprise and business architecture, process discovery and business process analysis. It enables organizations to capture, present, and analyze their entire enterprise, resulting in a thorough understanding of the inter-relationships between business strategy, business processes and the systems and technology that support them. ProVision enables businesses to better understand, realize, innovate and monitor all aspects of operations to continually improve performance.

The research report evaluates vendor solutions on how well they support EA teams in everyday activities such as modeling, future-state analysis, road mapping, dashboard analysis and scenario planning that impact these stakeholders. According to the report, “Leaders” provide mature offerings that meet market demand, as well as demonstrate the vision necessary to sustain their market position as requirements evolve. The hallmark of “Leaders” is that they focus on and invest in their offerings to the point that they lead the market and can affect its overall direction. As a result, Leaders can become the vendors to watch as you try to understand how new offerings might evolve.”

In this Magic Quadrant, the “Leaders” have a broad range of capabilities to support EA, combined with the ability to deliver these capabilities to a diverse group of stakeholders. While each of the eight Leaders has different strengths, they all provide good capabilities to assist EA’s mission to translate business vision and strategy into effective enterprise change. In addition, they have a clear vision of where EA is going and maturing.

“Enterprise architects must integrate, analyze and communicate structured and unstructured information about a wide range of subjects (technology, solutions, interfaces, information and data, business processes, organization structure and strategy). This information must be authoritative, auditable and meaningful for a variety of stakeholders across IT and the business,” noted Gartner research analysts Chris Wilson and Julie Short in the report. “While many teams start off using drawing tools, spreadsheets, and other office productivity and content management tools to document and share their EA, this approach becomes extremely difficult once artifacts appear in multiple places. Adoption of an EA tool addresses this issue of keeping all changes in sync by providing a single repository that enables the changes to be reflected in the entire architecture across all viewpoints (such as business, information, technology and solutions).”

“We believe our position in the Leaders sector of Gartner’s most recent Enterprise Architecture Tools Magic Quadrant, as well as the BPMS and BPA Magic Quadrants, underscores our ability to deliver powerful solutions that help businesses transform the way work gets done,” said Kamran Kheirolomoom, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Business Process Solutions, OpenText. “OpenText Metastorm was one of the first vendors to leverage the synergies between enterprise architecture, business process analysis and business process management remains committed to innovating and delivering market-leading software designed to help organizations connect strategy with execution to drive meaningful change across all lines of their business.”
